While Lis was staying with us, she went to Lucy Cooks to learn the art of the inspirational fish dish. She came home on Saturday with a box full of goodies and seven of us feasted on fish for tea. Photo courtesy of the chef.

The National Trust property at Wallington is a real treat. It has everything you need for a happy day out; rambling paths, walled garden, adventure play area and pots of tea. There is even a sign encouraging ball games on the lawn. This is Rebekah, Daniel and Boo, running though the dafs.

This is the eye of a european eagle owl. We met him last week and Daniel and Bethan were allowed to stroke his tail feathers. Jon and I had a go at flying another smaller owl and a Harris Hawk. With the help of the falconer we were even able to hand feed them. Bethan, however tried to feed them her fingers, and she would have succeeded had it not been for Jon's super-fast reactions. We've been enjoying northumbria with the White family. Swimming and pottering round eating ice-creams has been the pattern of the holiday. We also had a trip to the Blue Reef Aquarium at Tynemouth and did some excellent wave dodging afterwards on the beach. More photos here.
