The four Burgess Grandchildren will be cosy in their beds this winter because they were each given a gorgeous hot water bottle sheep for Christmas from Grandma Burgess and Grandpa Peter. Here are James, Bethan and Daniel opening their presents.

Boxing Day 26th December posted by hannah
We had a brisk Boxing Day walk around the Scouts Millenium Garden at Hylands House. The garden is well designed with lovely planting, hiding places and winding paths but the wind chill was fierce so we didn't stay out long.

stripping 20th December posted by hannah
Strip with the walls, we're feeling jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la,
There is not a leaf of Holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la,
Plaster's bare and lounge is empty,
Fa la la la la, la la la la,
Flying south to land of plenty,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
This was the last piece of wallpaper to go - the top of the Wall of Fame.

Another picture from yesterday's nativity to satisfy those that complained they couldn't see the children! This is Daniel and Bethan before the service with their friend Cody.

Today I went to Daniel's nursery school nativity at the village church. Daniel held a king and Bethan had a lamb to deliver to the crib at the appropriate time. The children sang Away in a Manger and there were tears in the eyes of many parents but not in mine as I was chasing Bethan round the choir stalls by then.

A picture of Fairfield from Fell Foot, taken last week after Holly's Gruffalo treasure hunt party! Daniel really enjoyed himself and declared afterwards that for his 4th birthday, he would like a Gruffalo treasure hunt with all Holly's friends.

pre-christmas 14th December posted by jonathan
After 48 hours of rain just lumps of snow are left. Surprisingly though the ground underneath is still frozen. So we were indoors most of today as we celebrated an early Christmas with Tom, Tash, Jo, Rich, Flo, Luca and Nico. It was great, a manic lunch and afternoon ending with a story and five very tired children.

Daniel's nursery class go to the forest on Wednesdays to play in the den and build fires. Today Daniel helped to light the fire and they made hot chocolate.

Some wintry trees from the village. This will be the last snowy post for a while - it's going fast.

We're still enjoying bucket-loads of snow and can't possibly think, talk or blog about anything else until it melts!

A photo from last weekend when Jon and Paul went walking. We've got more snow than this, even today! Hoorah.

red 5th December posted by hannah
Jon's cell group were here on Saturday night for a winter feast with a red theme. The rules were that all 16 of us had to wear something red and every course had to include red. It was a lot of fun and we transformed our lounge for the occasion - with a lot of help from Rob and Rach.

winter wonderland 4th December posted by Jonathan
Last night we had more snow. A good 4 - 6 inches fell on top of what we already had. The schools are shut, kids are out sledging and the roads are actually clearer than they have been for days as the snow plough has been through the village. It's lovely.
