We've been looking after the chickens and enjoying many dippy egg moments in our new egg-cups.

Matt dropped in for tea last week. It was fantastic to see him in the flesh, instead of on Skype. We made pancakes in celebration of his visit which could only have been improved by the addition of the lovely Catherine.

There is a photographic studio in the village which runs training courses. Local children are regularly asked to help out with the photo-shoots in exchange for some prints (and a goody bag)! Today it was Daniel's turn and I spent an interesting hour listening to the session while he smiled for the cameras.

For the second time this month, I find myself writing about a car accident. This time it was Jon on black-ice on the A6. Having tried to launch itself off a dry stone wall we discovered that BMW's don't fly well. They do protect their passengers though as the car is likely to be written-off but it's cargo safe and sound. More photos here.

Hello, Mr Flue12th January posted by hannah

Today our chimney gave birth to a flue. It was a long and difficult labour but he's here now and we couldn't be happier.

M6, birmingham10th January posted by hannah

We took a gamble on the Birmingham stretch of the M6 on Saturday, instead of going on the toll road and found ourselves behind a serious accident. The delay cost us an hour and a half. We gratefully drove away, but having watched the fire crews cut the doors off one of the other cars, someone else was not as lucky.

While I've been in the north, Daniel has had two holidays! The first, "by my own", with Grandma Bat and Grandpa Foof (a heady mix of trips to cafe nero, escalator hopping and cooked breakfasts), the second with Grandma and Grandpa Burgess included a memorable (for all the right reasons)! reunion with his sister, which brought a tear to his daddy's eye.

We've enjoyed an eighteen month break from building work but now it's time to get on with the job. I've been in the lakes this week with our trusty builders Chris and Mike and this is what they've done to the lounge! More pictures here.
