washing line of lurve22nd March posted by hannah
I've had my first foray into the world of flower arranging in the village church. We made a huge arrangement for Mothering Sunday with papier mache birds of paradise and wooden spoon mummies with wild hair. The whole thing was wrapped in lines of colourful washing with messages on the back from the children. It was a little unconventional but great fun and I rediscovered my long lost love of cutting and sticking.

My husband has earnt a lot of brownie points this weekend. I had a pre-Mothering Sunday pass for a day out in the hills yesterday with friends. We walked up Hellvelyn from Legburthwaite (Thirlmere), which is not a route I have ever taken before and it was fabulous.

After two false starts, today was the first day of the year that we got the washing dry on the line. A good day indeed and a true sign of spring in these parts.

We've enjoyed our temporary membership of the Land Rover club. The driving position is superb and you'd be amazed at how many parking spaces you can find when you can stop on any gradient (very useful in Cumbria). However, it wouldn't do to be getting too many ideas above our station, so we've bought ourselves a Ford and will bring you a picture soon.

11 days ago I would not have thought it very likely that I'd spend 6 days training in deep snow in Scotland. It was also a surprise to:
Below, Paul and Cath inspect the next line to ski, having skinned up Creag Meagaiah. A few photos taken when it wasn't a white out can be seen here

Bethan's first latte. Thanks to the attentive tuition of the Bat, it didn't take her long to get the hang of it.

Jon is in Scotland this week with Mountain Rescue so we are appreciating the tender care of the Grandmothership. Everyone was very pleased when she arrived. She was robustly loved.
