"buck-buck 'at "          thursday 22nd february posted by hannah

Daniel has been given a chicken hat as a thank-you present for looking after our neighbours chickens. It has barely left his head for the past 24hours and has prompted him to utter his first proper sentence which was: "Naniel-buckbuck-'at-on."

pride comes before a fall                               Wednesday 21st february posted by hannah

I have been secrectly quite proud of my tolerance of our dusty-building-site house. Ro says that it's all in the genes and that my Grandparents home was similar. I concluded that this must be a complement and that I am after all, the only member of my family to have inherited these most easy-going and tolerant of genes, when she followed up with - IT WAS NEVER FINISHED.

Long live Bessie Margaret.

My Aunt and Uncle, Ro and Bob are in the Lakes for a few days. We've enjoyed catching up and took them up Reston Scar this morning.

A sunny Saturday morning on the beach in Edinburgh.

chickens                                         wednesday 14th february posted by hannah

This week we are looking after next doors chickens and Daniel's new favourite pastime is to visit them. They are actually very pretty - I'm not sure of the breeds, my chicken breed knowledge is a little sketchy but their eggs taste great.

ouch                                          monday 12th february posted by jonathan

Hannah's university housemates were up this weekend and left earlier today. We were all having a great time until Oli broke his shoulder blade by putting a large crack (below) in it whilst playing in the snow on top of a mountain.

His pain was intense and it took an agonising 3 hours to make it down, then drive to the excellent Westmoorland General Hospital who started treating him within 3 minutes of arriving. It was still a lovely weekend, its just a shame it ended with Oli not being able to try on any of the mountain jackets he wanted to buy!

nippy but nice                                          tuesday 6th february posted by jonathan

It's the end of the day but there is still frost on the ground, even in the places where the sun has been on it for hours. I'm hoping that by the start of next week we might have some good ice formed to go out for a climb in the evening.

our favourite month                                         monday 5th february posted by jonathan

Every year february seems to deliver the most beautiful weather. Dry, cold & sunny.

the plan                                                      thursday 1st february posted by jonathan

Taped on our wallpaper-less hall is the orginal plan for the little bits of work we wanted the builders to do before Christmas. We keep it there now to amuse ourselves.

2 months on and there is now more work to do than on the original plan and tonight I measure up for the structural engineer and planning permission application. We like the way it is heading but this next bit needs "detail and scope" allegedly.
