We enjoyed a rare sunny day today and I had a walk up Orrest Head. There is a dusting of snow on the high fells and I was glad of my down jacket on the top. Winter is on it's way.

Our camera lens is finally fixed and should arrive in the next few days. I've really missed it. In the meantime, I snapped this rainbow today with a borrowed lens.

Beth has developed a liking for a cuppa and has taken to inviting herself to her Godmother's house for tea drinking. Today, Rachel took her to the pot painting cafe to decorate her very own teapot.

The lakes are still super full but roads and schools are open again and life is slowly getting back to normal. We discovered today that the tea room at Fell Foot has flooded for the second time in 12 months, which is very bad news as the place was only refitted in March. Also, rumour has it that around 100 boats have been lost to the depths of Windermere. Must check our canoe.

We've had great value and many happy hours of entertainment from the packaging of Bethan's new duvet. The two boxes have been kennels, puppet theatres, lifts, garages and robots. Now we're into monsters and they're still going strong. More here.

baby neve george22th November posted by hannah
Today we heard the wonderful news that Matt and Catherine have had a beautiful baby boy. Neve George was born this morning, weighing a healthy 8lb 2oz. We are over-the-moon and there has been much whooping over the international airwaves. Being an emotional creature, I cried great big fat tears of joy all the way through the baptisms at church this morning. Then we hot-footed it to the pub for a celebratory, slap-up roast dinner and toasts! Pictures here.

I'm told that our village has seen the worst flooding in living memory over the last 48 hours, and the most rainfall ever recorded in England. The rivers have burst their banks and are running amock all over the roads and in and out of the houses. Schools and roads are closed and we have battened down the hatches and built-up the fire. On a positive note, we made it to News at Ten! More pictures here.
