haircut saturday 29th september posted by Hannah
We thought it couldn't be done and the bloodcurdling screams of all previous attempts would suggest that we were right, but today we acheived the impossible and Daniel has had a scream-free haircut. He wouldn't let us anywhere near his ears, so he looks like an ewok but at least he is shorn.

Our car has not been very well this week. Over a litre of water must be added every 200 miles to stop it overheating. It's at the garage being repaired and although it's slightly inconvenient, it feels good to be commuting on our fine trains again.

making news tuesday 25th September posted by Jonathan
I know it's a bit dull putting up another picture of sky and clouds but today there has been great excitement in the village. There have been helicopters circling overhead trying to catch some robbers. Everyone was out with their binoculars scanning the sky! Surely the robbers would be more likely to be sighted at ground level!

pete and leonie 22nd September 2007 posted by Hannah
We gate-crashed pete and leonie's holiday yesterday and spent a pleasant day with them, sauntering between Skelwith Bridge and Elterwater and stopping at the watering holes along the way!
Daniel ate: cheese sandwiches, jam sandwiches, strawberries, chocolate biscuits, chips, grapes, gateaux and tiffin. He drank orange juice and tea. Bethan drank only milk. She has some catching up to do but is considerably cheaper to run.

Today is the first day where I have noticed this phrase in our weather forecast: "a risk of isolated ice patches early on, on high ground." It would appear that the trees are changing colour with good reason.

Last week at this time (9pm) I was trying to find my way down a crag with my brother and became aware that the nights are now somewhat darker, somewhat sooner. Not ideal, if you're looking for an oak tree that marks the route down - in the dark!
I've followed that route down before, about 4 years ago but I couldn't find it this time. Here's hoping for more climbing weather this month.
