school's outJune 30th posted by Hannah

It's not holiday time yet but we've had the day off school today because the teacher's are revolting. As is our custom, we headed for a lake with wetsuits and lunch. It was actually raining when we pulled into the car park but by then we were committed and luckily it turned out to be a lovely day.

french cricketJune 20th posted by Hannah

Peter and Yvonne have been here for the weekend and Dan and Boo have been learning how to play French Cricket. Amazingly, we managed to locate Jon's cricket bat which hasn't seen a pitch for a while and we've been enjoying some fine cricketing action on the lawn. Daniel and Bethan have also gained a skipping rope each and this morning there was an earlybird session of skipping before school!

strawberry boreJune 14th posted by Hannah

My little strawberry bed is three years old. I know I'm obsessed with it - don't think I haven't noticed peoples glazed expressions when I mention the hallowed patch. I'm sure you don't need an annual update on it's productivity but I can't let June pass without reminding you how marvellous it is. Yesterday Bethan and I picked a pound and a half of perfect fruit and there's plenty more to come.

lego heavenJune 12th posted by Hannah

This weekend we hit Legoland. I don't think there was a family more excited than us as we waited for the gates to open on Saturday morning. With the Maycocks as our expert guides, we drove lego cars, journeyed in a lego submarine, shrieked through rollercoaster rides, and marvelled at the minature lego world of 'miniland'. It was a fantastic day out. Our highlight was the pirate show, which lulls you into thinking it's going to be all Yo-ho-ho's and custard pies and then accelerates to a fever pitch of jet-ski chases and acrobatic back flips off a lighthouse(!) It was brilliant. And now as I write this, there is nothing but the gentle sound of snoring coming from upstairs. More pictures here.

introductionsJune 11th posted by Hannah

We've spent the weekend in Wokingham, where we were able to visit my Aunty Linda, David and my cousin Jo. Dan and Boo were introduced to their second cousin Isaac Stanley and Linda and David's dogs Jack and Jill. While we were there, we also worked out that none of them had met Bethan before so it was an afternoon of introductions accompanied by scones and jam.

taking teaJune 6th posted by Hannah

It's been lovely to have Le grandes Bats here for a few days. We have been taken out for multiple coffee breaks and haven't been permitted to pay for any of them, the kitchen has cleaned itself and Daniel has been read pages and pages of Swallows and Amazons.

Kentmere challengeJune 4th posted by Hannah

It was a glorious weekend for the Lakeland Trails races. We drifted down to the field to play some football with Jim-Bob first thing and ended up whiling away the day cheering the runners and bobbing along to the Kookaburra All Stars carnival band. Dan entered the childrens race and was very pleased to be awarded a medal for completing the course.
